Michael James Keenan passed away on June 18, 2007, from injuries sustained while rescuing a friend's dog from a house fire on Feb. 6, 2007. Michael was born in Portland, ME, on March 29, 1963. He later moved to San Francisco and was a founding partner, and head designer for a clothing company called Maine-iac, a popular sportswear line. He was an accomplished painter, mountain bike rider, dog lover and amazing friend. Michael was regarded as a two-time hero. He received two commendations from San Francisco City's Mayor, Police and Fire Departments, first for his heroic efforts in rescuing a woman from a submerged auto in San Francisco Bay in 2001 and more recently, when he re-entered a burning home to rescue his friend's dog. His mother, Patricia Locker Palmer, predeceased Michael. He is survived by his father, James F. Keenan and stepmother, Sandra Keenan. He is also survived by his brother, James F. Keenan Jr.; sisters, Tina Keenan Nolin, Angela Keenan Konzal and Paige Keenan Willison; aunts and uncles, Barbara and William Boynton, Debra Keenan, and Constance and John Carrier and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Michael Keenan's life at Fort Funston in SF on July 8, 2007 at 12:00PM.
