EDNA MARKLE BROWN LIGHTGROVE - Edna Brown Light quietly slipped into the arms of Jesus at 8 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2002. She was 90.Edna was born August 20, 1911 in Dodd City, AR. She was the oldest surviving child of Bill and Alice Delores Abbott Markle. Full of laughter and fun, she became known in the community as one of those beautiful Markle girls. Going to community dances with her sisters and parents, she discovered she had a gift for dancing.Edna attended school at the Dodge Country School until the eighth grade, or as she liked to say, until she was bigger than her teacher and could no longer sit at the small desks. Despite a lack of formal education, she was wise in many ways. At a relatively young age, Edna met and fell in love with Charley Brown. The couple were married in Noel, Mo. Together they had six children, three boys and three girls. Later in life, again finding love, Edna married Raymond Moore. Several years after Raymond passed away, Edna married Richard Light on July 6, 1977, in Miami, Okla. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, J.C. and Jack Markle; two sisters, Suedy Powell and Wilma Sanford; her husband, Charley Brown; her husband, Raymond Moore, and many other relatives. She is survived by: her husband, Richard, of the home; three sons, John and wife, Barbara, of Mount Pleasant, N.C., Jack and wife, Thelma, of Commerce, and Joe of Grove; three daughters, Mary Ann Warren and husband, Oakley, of Grove, Susie Christensen and husband, Gary, of Columbus, Kan., and Lynda Nichols of Miami, Okla.; four sisters, Ella Francis and Aliene Harris, both of Grove, Jo Anna Kissar, of Oklahoma City, Ada Walls of Richmond, Calif., and Judy Ramos of Pensacola, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and loving friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and sisters.
