Uetta Lomelia Taylor, 88, of Whitney, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with Donnie Button officiating. Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.
Uetta was born in Cleburne, Texas, to the late Charlie P. and Flora (Bickerstaff) Sampson. She grew up in Hillsboro and married Joe Taylor on May 31, 1941. They lived in Whitney until 1948 and then returned in 1972. Uetta was a member of the Eastern Star 930 in Whitney.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 12, 2007; a brother; and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Button and husband, Brent, of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Lonnie, Donnie and Mark Button; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
