Buren Brooks "Buck" DeFee was born to William Robert & Mary Ella Gordon Burns DeFee in Center, Shelby County, Texas on 21 April 1911. He graduated high school in Center, Texas and moved shortly thereafter to Houston, Texas to be employed as a typesetter with the Houston Post. He worked alongside his brother Caldwell DeFee, and half brother, Bobbie Burns. On 28 November 1938, he married Troy Levera Shelbourn in Houston, Texas. He enlisted in the army and served in the European Theatre of WWII and was there at Normandy.
He was extremely proud of his growing family and worked hard to support them. He remained close with all of his brothers and sisters who all lived nearby. Buck enjoyed playing golf on the weekends.
Sadly, Buck suffered a major heart attack and died at his inlaws home in Purvis, Lamar, Mississippi on 28 July 1957.
