Old soldiers never die. They just fade away. Hezekiah C. Braddock, a soldier for Christ, leader of men was born to Richard and Annie Braddock, January 23, 1902, in Benton County, Misissippi. He professed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Ripley Baptist Church; later cast his lot with Adkins Chapel United Methodist Church. He grew up in the church and attended the public schools in Tippah County. Upon maturity he claimed the hand of Miss Princess Knox, who during their fourteen years of marriage bore him six children, one of the children preceeded his passing. After the expiring of this beloved wife he was married to Miss Ethel Boyd thirty seven years, during which time a son blessed this union. Following the death of Mrs. Ethel Braddock, he united in wedlock with Mrs. Gertrude Rutherford in 1977, who survives. Mr. Braddock was superintendent of the Sunday School several years, served on the Board of Stewards and was financial secretary many years; was trustee of the church; an active member of Masonic lodge 401 in Blue Mountain, later served the Stringer Grand lodge of Free and Accepted Masons as a responsible secretary. He earned his livelihood on the farms he owned - a friend, who was a respected citizen of Tippah County. We pay tribute this day to our loved one who on September 24 at 11:30 A.M., 1978, closed the final page in this mortal life and went to sleep in pleasant dreams at his residence. Other survivors are three sons: Bro. James Braddock, Evangelist and Mr. Hezekiah C. Braddock, Jr., Memphis, Tennessee, and Mr. Richard Wayne Braddock, Blue Mountain. Four daughters: Mrs. Linnie Tate, Miss Verline Braddock, and Mrs. Charlene Love, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Juanita Thomas, Blue Mountain; two sisters: Mrs. Estella Robinson, Ripley, and Mrs. Keteria Lofton, Jackson, Mississippi; a brother Mr. Vernon Braddock, Ripley; seventeen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, many neices, nephews, other relatives and friends. -------------------------
