Mrs. Clara A McCoy was born at Warsaw, Kentucky, November 3, 1839, and died at her home in Nortonville, Kansas March 27, 1899. Her maiden name was Clara A Frazier. With her parents she moved to Indiana, where she was united in marriage to Ezra Hayes September 1, 1859, who died at Valley Falls, Kansas, March 22, 1872. Of this union three children were born, of which Alvin B Hayes is the only one that survives his mother. On March 14, 1878 she was united in marriage to William McCoy at Valley Falls, Kansas. Mrs. McCoy had been a member of the M.E. Church for 30 years and her faith and confidence failed her not during the long period of her sickness. Since last October she had been confined to the house and much of the time to her room. The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church on the 28th of March. She was laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery at Nortonville.
