Soprano. She starred with the Chicago Civic Opera from the 1930s thru the early 1940s. After her retirement from the operatic stage, she taught voice in Chicago. Solidly trained in the Marchesi "method" named for singer Mathilde Marchasi, who was the teacher of Nellie Melba among others. Frances Marshall's most famous pupil was Kathryn Grayson who chose a movie career over the operatic stage.
