Judge Castleman, came to Stephens County in 1908 and taught school until 1919. From 1919-1949, he served as Justice of the Peace of Stephens County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Knights of Pythias, Elks and Odd Fellows Club.
James Castleman married Miss Roxie Walker on 25 December 1900 near Moran, Texas.
Services were held at First Baptist Church.
Survived by his wife; three daughters - Mrs. M.M. Tabor of Cisco Mrs. T.W. McCoy of Tulsa, OK, Mrs. Earl Blackburn of Borger; two sons - Walker D. Castleman of Breckenridge, J.W. Castleman, Jr. of Dallas; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
