From The Central City Democrat, September 25, 1902, page 5:

The community was saddened Saturday morning by the news of the death of Mrs. Fredrick Boelts at her home in Archer. She was suffering from kidney trouble complicated with other disorders and the end had been expected for some time.

Anna Margurite Tatje was born in the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, Germany, December 28, 1841, and was united in marriage to Fredrick Boelts February 9, 1864. Nine children were born to the, four sons and five daughters, all of whom live to mourn her loss.

In 1968 [sic] she came to America with her husband, residing in Illinois fifteen years and moving to Nebraska in 1883. Mr. Boelts took a homestead five miles north of the present town of Archer and they continued to live there until about a year ago when the infirmities of age and the possession of a competency persuaded them to retire to a cozy home in Archer, leaving the burden of farm work on younger shoulders. She lived but a short time to enjoy the fruits of her early labors and passed away September 13, 1902 at 11 p.m.

She joined the M. E. church in 18564, but upon moving to Nebraska united with the Evangelical Association there being no organization of Methodists here at that time.

She was laid to rest in the German cemetery, a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attending the services. Presiding Elder Branche officiated in German and Rev. Wiegert spoke in English for the benefit of the many American friends who paid the last token of respect to a noble woman. She was ever a faithful and loving wife and mother and through her long residence here was loved and respected by all who knew her as a true Christian and kind neighbor. May she rest in peace. W. M.
