Civil War Veteran. Co F, 9th Pa Cav. Mustered in 19 October 1861 at Harrisburg for 3 years. Discharged 18 July 1865. Age 19, complexion dark, height 5' 5", eyes brown, hair brown, occupation Miller. Reenlisted 1 January 1864 at Cleveland, Tn. Promoted to Sgt 1 May 18645. Bates Vol 3 pg 260
Suggested edit: The son of Levi & Catharine (Baker) Bushong and stepson of Leah (Hess) Bushong, in 1860 he was a farmer laborer and miller living with and/or working for Benjamin & Mary Bushong in a household that included a younger Elam Z. Bushong.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in ,Lancaster October 3, 1861, and mustered into federal service in Harrisburg October 19 as a private with Co. F, 9th Pennsylvania Cavalry (92nd Pa). He re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer January 1, 1864, at Cleveland, Tennessee; promoted to sergeant May 1, 1864, and honorably discharged with his company July 18, 1865.

He married Sarah E. Murr and fathered Bertha Elizabeth (b. 03/01/78 - married Frederick Diem). Cause of his death is listed as "asthma result [of] LaGrippe" with a "fractured l[eft] hip & paralysis" contributing factors.
