Joe was born Sept. 24, 1967, in Wyandotte, Mich., the son of Simmie Colen and Matilda Rae (Sargent) Adkins. He married Melissa Janel Cousino in 2001.
He was employed in sales and warehouse 11 years for the United Furniture Co. in Monroe, and continued his career as a truck driver for three years.
Joe is survived by his wife Melissa, pride and joy, 5-year-old Preston Joseph Adkins (Daddy's Little Boy); his father, Simmie Adkins; mother, Matilda (Sue) Adkins; stepmother Joyce Adkins; brother, Matthew; stepbrother, Joe; stepsisters, Lisa and Jean; nieces Kayla, December, Tayler and Michaelle; and nephews, Mick and Noah.
Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Farnham Funeral Home, 1125 W. Temperance Rd., Temperance, Mich., where funeral services will be held Friday at 12 p.m. Pastor Harold Ervin will officiate. Burial will follow in Bedford Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes would be appreciated to the family to defer funeral expenses.
