Obituary --- Vollmer
Angela Etta McDowell was born in Monroe
county, Ohio, April 29th, 1861 and died at
Soldiers Grove, Dec. 14, 1910, at the age of
Forty-nine years, seven months, and fifteen
days. In 1866 she came with her parents,
Madison and Mary E. McDowell to Sylvan,
Richland county, and was married August
1884 to Joseph A. Ballmer of Wauzeka,
Crawford county, who died April 29, 1899.
To this union six children were born,
Agnes, who died March 14th 1891; Emma
and Katie, who were at her death-bed,
and three sons, Albert, Elvin and Clifford.
She leaves to mourn her, an aged mother,
Mrs. Mary E. McDowell of Readstown; three
brothers, Winfield of Soldiers Grove, Elmer
of South McGregor, Iowa, Guy of Readstown;
three sisters, Arie Wheeler of Sylvan; Geri
Adkins, Soldiers Grove, Ora Kellogg, of
Readstown.
Mrs Vollmer united with the M.E. Church
12 years ago.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev.
A.L. Hulbut of the United Brethern church
at Sylvan, Dec. 16, 1910 and the remains
were laid to rest beside her father and
sister, who had preceded her to the other
shore.
