Allen and wife Wilma farmed and raised horses, They bought the Love-Cantrell Funeral home, Which is still in their family. Allen served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He was in the African-European Theater from 06 September1943 to 04 Dec. 1945, serving in Africa, Italy and in Combat at Rome-Arno. He was awarded the African- European Theater Ribbon with one bronze star, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Allen was a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association. When Allen died his body was taken to the Dekalb Memorial Gardens in a horse drawn hearse, followed by a long line of horseback riders.
