CARNEIRO — Fern M. Smith, 95, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Ellsworth County Medical Center. She was born June 6, 1919, in Carneiro to Eva E. (Naven) and Henry G. Henderson. She was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County.
Fern married Vernon Eugene Smith on July 28, 1940, in Kanopolis. She was a wife, mother and homemaker and a member of Carneiro United Methodist Church.
Fern is survived by her son, Ronald Smith, of Billings, Mont.; granddaughter, Jenny (Terry) Thompson, of Blair, Neb.; grandsons, Kevin Smith and David Smith (Samantha Stephenson), both of Los Angeles; and great-grandchildren, Katie, Jade and Josie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; son, Wesley Eugene; brothers, Hayes, Dale and Harold; sisters, Iva Hermreck, Allene Mullen and Alva Hudson-Bircher.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Parsons Funeral Home, with burial following in Carneiro Cemetery.
