Mrs. Arabella Bent, wife of D. C. Bent. 50 Church street, died this morning some time between six and seven o'clock after a prolonged illness with heart disease. She passed away while she slept and when her daughter. Mrs. A. C. Stroud, came softly into her room, she was startled to observe that Mrs. Bent had peacefully breathed her last.
Deceased was born Feb. 28, 1824. in Oxford county. Maine, and was therefore in her eightieth year. Her maiden name was Arabella Rawson Holmes. In 1851 she was married to Mr. Bent. They came to Oshkosh In 1856 and lived here most of the time ever since.
Her husband dealt in lumber, pine lands and real estate. He built the present Bent block, corner of Main and Merritt streets in 1866. For the past number of years he has been retired and is now so feeble that he is confined to the house a great deal. Mrs. Bent was always active and vigorous until about three years ago when she first became ill.
She is survived by her husband, who is eighty-two years of age, and three children. Mrs. F. E. Jillson of New London, mother of Mrs. Edwin Beardmore, Mrs. A. C. Stroud of this city and George C. Bent of Ogden, Utah. The latter is in California at present and funeral arrangements will not be made until a message Is received from him.
