Mr. Woodward had retired from J.C. Redding in Manassas as a carpenter.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Betty J. Hutchinson; a sister, Mary Jenkins; and two brothers, Douglas and Robert Lee Woodward.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mabel J. Woodward; two daughters, Joyce Owens of Reva and Cheryl Lynn Woodward of Bealeton; two sons, Herbert H. "Bud" Woodward Jr. of Culpeper and Edgar Lee Woodward of Richardsville; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include two sisters, Ann Penwell of Front Royal and Louise Jenkins of Purcellville; and two brothers, Samuel J. Woodward of Luray and Calvin Woodward of Staunton.
Funeral services were held Jan. 23 at Moser Funeral Home, followed by interment in Sumerduck Baptist Church Cemetery.
