Norman V. Wahl, 80, 114 Georgia St., died Jan. 13, 1998, at his home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Rev. Peary Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Norman was born Feb. 4, 1917, in Hurdsfield, the son of August and Louise (Andresen) Wahl. He was raised and educated in Harvey, and graduated from the University of North Dakota. Norman married Grace Bietz in 1935 at Fessenden. Norman was employed in Jamestown with the U.S. Civil Service Commission and the North Dakota Employment Service. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years, overseas, during World War II.Norman then owned and operated a food business in Jamestown until 1954, when he went into the insurance business. He was a claims adjuster until retiring in 1984. He was a member of El Zagal Shrine, VFW Club and Elks Lodge. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and George Carman, Bellingham, Minn.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Vicki, and Terry and Maureen, all of Bismarck; five granddaughters; five great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace, in 1991; one brother; and two sisters.
