Prominent Citizen and Pioneer Settler has record of service
Nels Anderson, aged 79 years, respected pioneer settler and prominent citizen of St. James, passed away at his home here at 10:30 o'clock last Thursday morning, after suffering from cancer of the liver.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 1:30 o'clock at his home and at 2:30 o'clock at the East Sveadahl church. Rev C. E. Frisk and Dr. L. H. Beck officiated. The choir rendered two songs at the church. Burial was at East Sveadahl cemetery.
The pallbearers were the four sons, William, Amel, Alfred, and Arthur Anderson and Joseph Beck and Einer Ladd.
Mr. Anderson was born in Lyby, Sweden, August 8, 1848. He came to this country when he was 21.
He settled on a farm near St. James where he lived for many years. He moved to town last year.
Nels was born Nils Andersson to Anders Andersson (1791-1875) and Elna Andersdotter (1811-1880). He was a farm hand on his future in-laws' farm.
