Obituary:
James Monroe ("Bud") Jackson, 77, well-known farmer and citizen of the Elk Creek section for many years, died at his home near Hines Branch yesterday (Wednesday) morning, about 7:30 o'clock. He had been seriously ill for the past three or four weeks, and had been in declining health for some time.
The deceased man, a native of his home section, was a son of the late John Jackson, who was born in Surry County, N. C., and wife, Mrs. Polly Troy Jackson, a Grayson native.
Mr. Jackson was a brother of Mrs. Flora Thomas, who lives near Galax, and was an uncle of Raymond Thomas, Galax business man.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Dell Bourne Jackson, and ten sons and daughters, as follows: Mrs. Stuart Catron, Robert F. Jackson and Albert Jackson, who live near Hines Branch; Mrs. Harley Phillips, Fallville; Mrs. Steve W. Porter, Kyle Jackson and Fred Jackson, Danville; Victor Jackson, Baltimore, Md.; Kent Jackson, Winside, Nebr., and Edd Jackson, Ridgefarm, Ill. Two daughters, Mrs. Flora Hines and Miss Artie Jackson, preceded their father in death.
Funeral services are to be conducted tomorrow (Friday) morning, at eleven o'clock, at Jerusalem Methodist church, Fallville, with interment in Jerusalem cemetery.
