SHELBYVILLE - Donald E. "Benny" Binnion, age 75, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 2:07 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012, at his daughter, Sherry Prather's house, surrounded by family and friends. The visitation will be held Monday, March 26, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Rev. Brian Miller will officiate. Burial will take place in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL. Benny was born May 25, 1936, in Mattoon, IL, son of the late Archie and Muriel (Merle Jordan) Binnion. He is survived by his seven loving girls, Sherry Prather, Wanda Harding, and Merle Garmon, all of Shelbyville, IL, Anna (husband Ralph) Connelly of Mattoon, IL, Anita (husband, Keith) Marcum of Milford, IL, Rose (husband Jaime) Garza of Shelbyville, IL, and Cassandra Bloxom of Mattoon, IL; One brother, Maurice (wife, Jennie) Binnion of Shelbyville, IL; One half-sister, Janet Lee Maulding, of Rantoul, IL; 19 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind two very special friends, Teri Gordon and her son Tyson, of Shelbyville, IL; and his faithful companion, Blonde Dog. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Binnion, one sister Ethal Smith, one step sister, Linda Kay Binnion, and two grandsons. Benny enjoyed spending time with his loving family and friends, especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved a good day of fishing, tinkering on anything with a motor, and trying his luck with a good hand of poker. He was a member of the Shelbyville VFW Post 4829 and the Mattoon Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge 3438. The family requests casual attire.
