Anna Lee, five-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Higgason, Algona, died in an Iowa Falls hospital at midnight Monday after being fatally injured internally in an automobile accident Monday noon seven miles south of Clarion on Highway 69. Mrs. Higgason, who was driving, was seriously injured, receiving a bad cut over an eye and facial and leg bruises. Besides Anna Mae, who was a kindergarten pupil in the local school, Mrs. Higgason was accompanied by another daughter, Rita Mae. Rita Mae was uninjured. The car, a Ford V8, was badly wrecked, and was towed to Algona. The pavement was wet, and Mrs. Higgason lost control of her car when it skidded on the black center line. The car overturned into a ten-foot ditch, and landed on the radiator, burying the front end of the car two feet in the mud. The group had been visiting relatives at Iowa Falls and Eldora and was on the way home when the accident happened. The child's father is employed by the Kossuth Motor company. Funeral arrangements had not been completed, but burial is expected to be in Eldora or Grinnell.
