Rites Held In Iowa For Former
Resident, Franklin Wenger, 79
Franklin E. Wenger, 79, of Danbury, Iowa, former resident of Fairbury and Forrest, died at his home in Danbury Saturday, June 27, after a long illness.
Services were held Monday, June 29, 1970, in the United Methodist church in Danbury with the Rev. Walter Enstrom officiating. Grave side rites were by the Carlson-Frum American Legion Post 336 of Danbury. Interment was in the Danbury cemetery.
He married Clara Mehrings on June 27, 1919, in Fairbury. They farmed in both the Fairbury and Forrest communities until moving to a farm near Danbury in 1921. They retired from farming in 1961.
He was a member of the Danbury United Methodist church, Odd Fellows Lodge at Battle Creek, a veteran of World War I and a 50-year member of the American Legion. He was a former longtime member of the Garfield Township School Board in Ida County, a past member of the Woodbury County Extension Council and a member of the Farm Bureau.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. George Pithan and Mrs. Marvin Albertsen, both of Danbury; two sons, Dean and Earl of Danbury; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Perkins of Flanagan and Mrs. Lillie Metz of Elmwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
Pall-bearers were Joe Barry, Carl Schable Jr., Marc Albertsen, Alan Pithan, Dan Welte and John Pry.
