Mrs. Kate Turner age 75, died Saturday, December 15, 1962 at her son, Tommy's home in Jacksonville, NC after a period of declining health.
Born in the Cabin area of Duplin County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Margaret Ann Baker Hall. She was also predeceased by her husbands, Henry Baker in 1911 and the late A.R. "Reat" Turner in 1943, and four children; Grainger Baker, Melvin Baker, Herbert Turner and Vada M. Turner.
Survivors include her children, Herman Baker, Carrie Baker Rose, Granger Turner, Reat Turner, Ada Turner Miller and Tommy Turner. Step-children; Lula Turner Pittman, Tap Turner, Willie Turner and Hattie Turner Brown. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

At the time of her death, Kate had gone blind and was bed-ridden due to a broken hip caused by a fall when she tripped over some puppies running around under her feet on the front porch.
