I stayed with them for several weeks in December 1983 when they still lived at 981 Lindbergh Drive NE in Atlanta, GA. Stanley had fought with the Polish Resistance during WWII and had spent some time in a German POW camp--and had his prisoner number tattooed on his arm.
When he came to the U.S. after the war, he said that it seemed to him that many women had lots of money, so he became a hairdresser, first in New York City, then in downtown Atlanta at the Rich's department store, where he was known as "Mr. Stanley."
