Charlie was retired from the city of Tuscumbia after 32 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Willie Wellington Lewis; brothers, Curtis Lewis, Gene Lewis, J.B. Lewis, L.L. Lewis; sister, Pauline Etheridge; and grandson, Kent Hays.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Mae Aycock Lewis; sons, Steve Lewis and wife, Judy, Tim Lewis and wife, Gina; daughters, Nancy Lewis Hearn and husband, Jeffty, Kathy Lewis Howard and husband, Steve; brothers, Buford Lewis and Earl Lewis; sisters, Shellie Montgomery and Betty Martin; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and numerous special friends.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Sid Hearn, Paul Hearn, Chuck Hays, Charlie Lewis, Justin Hays, Patrick Hearn, Matthew Howard and Jonathan Howard.
Honorary pallbearers are the men's Sunday school class.
