Clarence Degret Vandiver, 94, a former Escondido resident, died Friday at a San Bernardino hospital. He had lived in the Escondido area 20 years prior to moving to San Bernardino recently.
Mr. Vandiver was born Feb. 14, 1872, at Newark, Ark. A former farmer, he retired in 1933. He married the former Jessie E. Arnold Sept. 8, 1897, at Alicia, Ark.
Survivors include two sons, Charlie of San Francisco and Ray of Yucaipa; five daughters, Mrs. Owen Marlow of Rock Island, IL, Mrs. Ophelia Oxford of Arkansas, Mrs. Ruth Lyon of San Bernardino, Mrs. Jack Silcox of Colton and Mrs. May Kerr of Escondido; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.
