Eugene C. Darrenkamp, 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Homestead Village, Lancaster, PA. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Zimmerman) Darrenkamp for fifty-eight years. They were married on June 11, 1957.

Born May 1, 1929 on Cabbage Hill, Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late George and Catherine (Flick) Darrenkamp. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Eugene dedicated his career to Darrenkamp's Grocery Store for over sixty years and retired in 2014.

Survivors include his children, Teresa M., wife of Jerry Thompson of Leola, Albert C., husband of Elice Darrenkamp of Lancaster, John M. Darrenkamp and companion, Tina Campbell of New Providence; his siblings, Ronald, husband of Anne Darrenkamp of Lancaster, Mary Ann Rumberger of Lancaster; as well as seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eugene was preceded in death by a son, Edward F. Darrenkamp (2013) and his siblings, Paul H., Thomas, Gerald, Richard and Raymond Darrenkamp.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 Saint Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10AM. There will be a viewing held in the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, "Sullivan Home" 121 South Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 (on-site parking with attendants) on Monday evening, March 27, 2017 between 6PM and 8pm and Tuesday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church between 9:30AM and 10AM. Interment will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic New Cemetery, Bausman, PA. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Remembrances can be made in Eugene's memory to Hospice & Community Care, www.hospiceandcommunitycare.org or St. Joseph Catholic Church to the above address.
