She was preceded in death by husband Philip, prisoner of war in Germany for 26 months, of whom she was happily married to for 34 years; daughter: Esther Porter; sisters; Clara Roder, Fannie Schwartz, Edith Hyman, brothers; Dr. Marx Lewis, and Sol Sterbcow.
Sarah attended Joseph Kohn High School. During WWII, she worked in the shipping department at the Port of Embarkation in New Orleans, La. She belonged to Hadassah and had been a member of both Congregation Beth Yeshurun and Temple Emanuel. Sarah donated money to Texas Children's Hospital in honor of her only child, Esther Hannah Shafer. Sarah will be recognized as an Abercrombie Society member.
Survivors include: one sister: Beulah Title of New Orleans, LA, Esther Pearl Danziger, niece: Sheryl Clennan, devoted friend, numerous nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law.
