After graduating from Miller High School with the class of 1965, Raul enlisted in the Marines.
Raul arrived in Vietnam something during February 1966 and was assigned to 1st Platoon, Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
Kilo Company was in their night defensive position near Cau Ha (3) and 8 kilometers north northeast of Dien Ban, when at approximately at 0545H, a grenade was thrown into the fox hole that Raul and another Marine were in. Raul died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds penetrating his entire body.
Raul served his country for one year and was single.
Survived by his parents, Miguel G, Sr and Petra (Fuentes) Flores, his three sisters; Lilly, Socorro and Pat and three brothers; Manuel, Miguel Jr and Martin Flores all of 1005 12th Street, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Preceded by a younger sister and a brother, Maria de Jesus and Tiburcio.
