The family migrated to Texas and after serving in World war II Joe settled in Belton, Bell County TX and had a home on an acre plot of his older brother John Robertson "Bob" Hood's 14 acre land for many years.
After a falling out between the two Joe moved to the community of Dog Ridge in Belton TX. After several years
Joe then went to live with his nephew in Midland TX where he lived out the remainder of his days and is now buried.
Joe was always ready for a laugh and while he never married he enjoyed spending time with his nephew and great nieces and nephews fishing or having a chocolate shake!
He is dearly missed and never forgotten.
