Visitaion will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services to begin at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with burial to follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Dr. Robert Paul and Brother Kevin Brannon will be officiating.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Calvinas Crabb; mother, Memra LouVina Bassham; brother, Malcomb G. Crabb; sisters, Clara Henderson, Jewell Hammond, Mamie Mashburn and Evelyn Norwood.
Survivors include his wife of 71 wonderful years, Mescal Vickers Crabb; son, Col. James Crabb (USAF retired) and wife, Leary, of Montgomery; daughters, Vicky Keys, of Florence, Teena Noles and husband, Allen, of Muscle Shoals; sister, Mabel Thomas and husband, J.E., of Leoma, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, James Crabb Jr. and wife, Tracie, of Rota Spain, Richard Crabb and wife, Angela, of South Boston, Va., Delisa Frierson and husband, Tem, of Powder Springs, Ga., Lisa Keys Mathews and husband, Tom, of Florence, Leslie Keys Cassady and husband, David, of Florence, Matthew Noles and wife, Jamie, of Athens, Ala., and Jenny Strickland and husband, Hayden, of Muscle Shoals; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Noles, Matthew Noles, Tom Mathews, Alex Mathews, Hayden Strickland and Richard Crabb.
Mr. Crabb retired as an electrician from Reynolds Metal Co. after 35 years of service. He loved to travel and visited every state and Canada and spent 53 days in Alaska. He was a lifetime member of Wally Byam (Air Stream) Caravan Club International.
Mr. Crabb was a founding member of the Muscle Shoals Electric Board and a member of IBEW Local No. 558 for 68 years. He was a founding member of Roaring Pines Campground in Huntsville. He was an avid beagle lover who raised beagles and competed in many field trials as a member of Muscle Shoals Beagle Club. He was passionate about clock collecting and made sure each child received a gift of a grandfather clock.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscle Shoals Humane Society.
