Anna Lucylle Duke Petit, of Mt. Pleasant, widow of James Percival Petit, Sr., entered into eternal rest on the morning of March 17, 2012.

Lucylle was born February 9, 1918 in Bridgeport, AL, the daughter of John Henry Clay Duke and Mary Ethel Haggard Duke.

Prior to her marriage to J. Percival Petit she was a member of the Duke Sisters' Gospel singing group. The group toured the South and appeared on the Grand Ole Opry.

Mrs. Petit was a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by four sons: James P. Petit, Jr., and wife Vivian of Cocoa, FL, Brian L. Petit, and wife Patty of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kenneth D. Petit of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Parker H. Petit and wife Janet of Roswell, GA; one daughter: Cherie M. Petit of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her daughter-in-law: Angel Petit of Mt. Pleasant, SC; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one sister: Myra D. Burroughs of Charlottesville, VA.

She is predeceased by her son, John R. Petit, two brothers and four sisters.

The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral, March 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
