She was graduated from the Belview High School and then attended the Mankato State College, two years.
In 1929, she came to Clarkfield to teach the second grade and continued without interruption for ten years.
On June 12, 1939, she was united in marriage to Mr. Walter Friberg of Clarkfield.
At that time she became a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she remained an active member and served in many capacities including Sunday School teacher for many years, financial secretary, Aid and Mission work.
Adena continued to teach part-time for many years at the local school and since 1961, full time. Her interest in education took her back to Mankato State College where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1966.
She entered a Minneapolis hospital last February and since that time submitted to four surgeries. She passed away September 1, 1970, at her home in Clarkfield at the age of 61 years.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; daughter, Terryl, son-in-law, Rev. Peter Anderson and grandson, Jed of Bayfield, Wisconsin; one brother, Vern Nelson of Winona, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends.
