Charles Nelson Ward, the son of Elisha and Felinda Ward, was born in West Virginia, on December 20, 1868, and passed away at his home near the village of Dell, Vernon county, Wisconsin on Sunday morning, January 8, 1933.
When eight years old he came with his parents to a farm near Hillsboro, Wisconsin, and there grew to manhood.
In the year of 1895 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Edgar, and to this union were born three children: Bernice, Ernie and Bernard, Ernie dying in infancy, and Bernice passing away at the age of 22 years. Bernard is still at home with his parents.
Mr. Ward was united with the United Brethren church in 1921, and was baptized and a firm believer in that which is Eternal.
He leaves to mourn his departure, a wife, one son and one grandson, Arthur Nelson, who has made his home with the grandparents since the death of his mother. Surviving also are one sister, Mrs. Julia Amas, of Decoma, Oklahoma; two brothers, George Ward of St. Louis, Mo., and James Ward, Villia, Mo.; one half-brother Asa Ward of Ontario, Wis., besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Dell United Brethren church, conducted by the Rev. Ralph E. Parr, pastor. The body was laid to rest in the Dell Cemetery, Tuesday afternoon.
