John Max Auberry, 86, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at the family residence surrounded by the family and friends he dearly loved.

He was the son of the late Callie McTaggart Auberry and Bass Auberry. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Jack Auberry and B. L. Auberry; his sister, Ella V. Beck; his sons-in-law: Donnie Price and Tommy Morgan; and his great- granddaughter, Samantha Auberry.

He was employed by Cleveland Chair Co., where he retired after 37 years of service. He is also well-remembered by many as a faithful employee of Ken's Auto Service, which is owned by his son, Kenneth.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe and the Rhineland as an anti-tank gunman and was recently recognized in a Cleveland ceremony as one of the few living survivors of those wars.

He was a longtime faithful member of the Community Hall Church.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 65 years, Della Mae McCann Auberry of Cleveland; his sons: Kenneth Auberry and his wife, Diana, Auberry, and Bill Auberry and his wife, Pat; his daughters: Kathy Foust and Linda DuBose: his grandchildren: Dr. Ken Auberry II, Alicia Auberry, Kelli Bilyeu, Joy Burke, Donnie Price, Jamie Morgan, Nikki Ledwell, Jason Morgan, Tyler Price and Traci Netherton; his great-grandchildren: Tayre Jones, Logan and Callie Ledwell, Jakob Carpenter, Skyler Bilyeu, Madalynne Auberry and Luke Millaway; his sisters: Avis Gaylor, Bobbie Ware, Ruth Chastain and Gwendola Wilson; and several nieces and nephews .

The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at 2 p.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Jeannie Cissom, pastor of the Community Hall Church and the Rev. James Vaughn, associate pastor of the Clingan Ridge Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with grandsons will serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be given.
