Margaret was born in Mount Juliet, to Harvey Thomas Everett and Annie Taylor. She was one of 6 children. Her family was one of the first founding settlers in Mount Juliet and she resided in a home built by Roscoe and their son on part of the original homeplace.
She was known as 'Sis' to her family. She was a kind, gentle, soft-spoken woman. She was known to family and friends as a good cook but a woman of many talents as well. She could do most anything she wanted and her passion in her later years was making quilts. She left her family crocheted bedspreads and all the nieces and nephews were given a quilt.
She married James Roscoe Powers on March 1, 1947. She and Roscoe were together at Mount Juliet Health Care the last nine months of their lives. Roscoe preceded her in death by 40 days.
