Ray H Letherman Sr, 64, died unexpectedly at 4 pm Saturday of a heart attack in his home on S Washington St.

He was aware of a heart condition but had not missed work at Lehman's Packers Friday and had been fishing Saturday forenoon. He later complained of being tired and was resting. The fire department resuscitator was called but Mr Letherman died before it arrived.

He was born July 22, 1896, near here, the son of Harve and Alice (Ehret) Letherman, and had spent his entire life here. He married Florence Berkey July 25, 1918, in Wakarusa.

The widow survives with three daughters and two sons, Mrs Roger (Imogene) Kulp, Mrs Kermit (Norma) Shank and Mrs Rollan (Maribelle) Sponsellor, all of Elkhart, and Linward and Ray Jr of Wakarusa; 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs Maude Truex, Mrs Guy Smeltzer, and Mrs Cleson Weldy of here and Mrs William Reese of Mishawaka; and two brothers, Walter of South Bend and Roscoe of here.

Funeral services were held at the Lienhart Funeral home Monday afternoon. The Rev Donald Young of the United Missionary Church was in charge, with burial in the Olive cemetery.
