Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - October 29, 1993. Obituary: DWIGHT BATES. Dwight A. Bates, age 88, of Lehi, died October 27, 1993 at the Heritage Nursing Home in American Fork, Utah. He was born June 6, 1905 in Oakley, Idaho to Ormus Ariah and Sarah Mariah Martin Bates. Married Gladys Margaret Anderson, September 25, 1926 in Salt Lake City. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died August 30, 1976. He was a service station manager in Lehi for many years. Member of the LDS Church and an avid rock hound.

Survived by son, Burlin D. Bates and daughter, Mrs. Shirley (Joyce) Neel, both of Lehi; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence N. Bates, Charleston, Ill.; Lucian H. Bates, Salt Lake City; and sister, LaNeve Bates, Newport Beach, California. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 1, 1993 at 1 p.m. in the Wing Mortuary Chapel, Lehi, where friends may call Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to service. Burial in the Timpanogos Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Orem.
