She made the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889.
Mrs. Laure G. Owens, 91, pioneer Oklahoman, died Thursday at the Home of her daughter, Maurine Borne' here in Tulsa.
In failing health for some time, Mrs Owens had been seriously ill for 5 weeks.
Born during the civil war, Mrs. Owens moved with her parents to Kansas in 1869. She latter married James W. Owens and continued to live in Kansas until making the run into Oklahoma territory in 1889, settling near Guthrie.
She later moved to Tulsa in 1919. She was a charter member of the Veterans of foreign wars auxiliary and a member of the war mother's organization.
She is survived by six children six grandchildren .
