Obituary:

Nina Freeda Stewart, age 93, daughter of Walter Cleveland and Bessie Jane (Watson) Baker was born December 15, 1920 in Houston, Missouri. She died January 30, 2014 in Houston, Missouri.

Freeda attended Houston Schools for twelve years and graduated in 1938. She was editor of the Pineymo, was elected Pineymo Queen by the students and received the Covert Honor Award. She enjoyed the relationships of her classmates through the years.

She was married to James Oscar Stewart on September 26, 1942. They had one daughter, Jane Nancy, born December 9, 1946.

Freeda traveled extensively in the United States and abroad as an Army wife and enjoyed that time of her life. She, Jimmie and Jane lived in many of the States, and countries of Japan, Germany and France. When Jimmie retired from the Army they returned to Houston, living the remainder of their lives here.

Their daughter Jane lost her life in an auto accident in March 1968. She had graduated from Houston High School in 1964 and would have graduated from Southwest Missouri State in two months. She is also preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by two nephews: Roy Johnson and wife Batil of Kerrville, TX, and Lee Holder and wife Faye of Branson, MO; one niece Mary Frances Holden of Lancaster, TX; also many great nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law and many Stewart Nieces and nephews.

Freeda became a member of the First Baptist Church at the age of thirteen and remained a member until her death. She was active in Sunday School, teaching several Sunday School classes and teaching the kids in VBS. She was a faithful member of the Woman's missionary Society.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening and especially raising African Violets. She also enjoyed playing golf with her husband and friends, as long as her health permitted. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for 48 years and formed many lifelong friendships during that time.

Freeda was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She was always friendly and had a wonderful smile. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
