Lloyd Haywood "Beanie" Bennett, 86, of West Lafayette, died at 9:50 PM [Sept. 13, 1982] in Pythian Home, where he had resided since June 16, and in failing health the past year. Born at Normal, IL, he was reared in West Lafayette, where he spent most of his life. In 1917, he married Bernice Pauline Garrott, who died in 1981.

Mr. Bennett had been employed at Ross Gear Division of TRW Inc. for 42 years, retiring in 1960. He also was a part-time farmer. He was a member and former president of United Auto Workers Local 531.

Surviving is a son, Gordon E. Bennett of West Lafayette; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
