He is survived by his wife the former Minerva Strausbaugh who he married on May 22, 1923 and their children included Earl J., Jr., Richard J. , Frederick J., Burnell K. and Dorothy A. Groft; brothers Francis and Preston Groft and sister hazel Staub and Marine Klunk.
Earl was preparing to broadcast his melody program over station WF-MD, Frederick when he had a heart attack.
Note - Earl was not reported in the 1930, 1940 and 1950 Census with his family, nor could I find a census for just him. He is recorded on his WW II Draft Record as living in Baltimore and his brother was his next of kin.
