Found Rare Coins.
The Madison Times is responsible for the following;
"Relatives found upwards of $300 secreted about the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Maupin at Maud. Mr. Maupin, who had been in the drug business at Maud for a number of years, died this winter and his wife died a few weeks later. They had no children and he willed his property to his brother and Mrs. Maupin's part of the estate was willed to her sister. The money found consisted of about $150 in gold pieces of various denominations, some pieces being of such old and are dates that they will command a handsome premium over their face value. A gallon bucket of dollars, $10 in dimes and other smaller amounts were found."
That portion of the article in regard to the wills is not exactly correct, so we are infomed [sic]. Mr. Maupin gave practically all his property to his wife. Mrs. Maupin made a will and gave $100 to John Maupin, son of Lee Maupin; $100 to a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bilbro, of Lentner; 1/4 of the remainder to her brother residing in Virginia, 1/4 to the children of a deceased brother and the remainder to Lee K. Maupin, a brother of her husband living north of Maud.
