DeSales R. "Sis" Sterner, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care March 13, 2012. She was the wife of Burtis H. Sterner, who died May 5, 1994.

Born April 20, 1928, in McSherrystown, she was the daughter of the late George and Eileen (Smith) Staub.

Sis was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover.

She worked for the former Sylvania Shoe Co., at St. Joseph Academy in the laundry dept., and also in the cafeteria at Delone Catholic High School.

Sis enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving is a son, Gregory J. Sterner and wife, Kimberly of Hanover; a grandson, Ryan T. Sterner; a brother, Alfred "Smoke" Staub of McSherrystown, and a sister, Rita Smith of Hanover.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, George, Raymond, and Donna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held March 16, 2012, at 10 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Hanover, with Rev. Jeffrey Thoms officiating. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown.
