He was born and raised in Scottsville, Ky., and spent two years in the Army stationed in Korea. Roy spent his professional years in California, where he met the love of his life, Ingrid. They married in 1970 and relocated to this area after he retired from G.E. in 1987. Survivors include his loving wife, Ingrid; brother, Eugene Spears and wife Marjorie; sister, Thelma Simmons and husband Jimmy; and sister, Barbara Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Roy will be greatly missed by all that knew him. No one will ever be able to fill his seat at the Thursday morning coffee group or his chair at the poker table.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Roy's favorite charity, a non-profit organization that supports an orphanage in Mexico: Hogar Infantil, P.O.
