Golden Andrew Bingham
Another World War II Veteran passed into eternity. Golden Andrew Bingham died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at McKay-Dee Hospital.
Golden was born February 28, 1920, in Riverdale, Utah, son of Sanford James and Sophia Stratton Bingham. On February 26, 1942, Golden married his childhood sweetheart, Cora Suiter in the Salt Lake Temple.
He graduated from Weber High School in 1938, and received an associate degree from Weber College in 1940. He served in the United States Navy as a Third Class Torpedo Man.
For most of his working years, he worked as a Machinist and Production Control Specialist at Hill Air Force Base. After retiring, he drove school bus for Weber County for 11 years. Throughout all those years he maintained a small fruit orchard, and is well known for his delicious peaches and pears.
He received many awards for his civic service, which included Riverdale Lions Club, President of Weber County Retired School Employees, and 30 years on Weber Credit Union's Committee, etc.
He has a pilot's license with over 2, 000 hours flying time. He is a life scout in the BSA.
Above all, Golden had a great love for the Savior and served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as Riverdale Stake Clerk for 14 years. He also served on the High Council, a counselor in a Bishopric, High Priest Group Leader, and Stake Advisor to the Young Single Adults.
His mission callings were: Fresno California, with the Cambodian people, Welfare Mission, to the Ogden Bishop's Store House, two temple missions, in the Ogden Temple, and Joseph Smith Memorial Building, with Public Affairs Department.
Golden is survived by his wife, 3 children, Golden Bodily, Jeffrey Bingham (Loralee), and Vicki Castle (Saxon); 14 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Glen, Louis, Paul, Ezra, Roland and 4 sisters, Lois, Norma, Evelyn, and Wrethea.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Family Tree Assisted Living at West Point.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at West Haven Ward, 3628 South 2700 West, West Haven, Utah. Friends may visit family Thursday, March 15, 2012, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah, and on Friday, from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church.
Interment in Hooper City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Primary Children's Medical Center.
