Josephine (Jody) Averill Matthews passed away at home, on March 8, 2012. She was 85 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Daniel L. Blickenstaff and Mabrye A. Blickenstaff and her husband, Philip L. Matthews. Born in Chicago, Illinois on May 12, 1926, she studied at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas before moving to Topeka, and then settling in Tulsa to be with family in 1957. Jody was a loving wife, sister and devoted aunt. She worked as an insurance secretary and cosmetic specialist before retiring. Her many interests included gourmet cooking, politics, African violets, schnauzers, music and spending time with family. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Martha Owens, nephew, Dr. Beau Jennings and wife, MaryAnn, niece, Paula Jennings and extended family. We will remember Jody's quick wit, contagious laughter and giving heart. Rest in peace, Jody. We will see you again. Celebration of Life Memorial Service is pending at Floral Haven.
