She was born in Wythe County, one of twelve children born to William H and Nannie Catherine Murphy Dodgion.
She was a member of the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church, the Wythe County Community Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer for 25 years with the American Red Cross.
She was a retired nurse from Pulaski Community Hospital and was preceded in death by her first husband, William Kelly Kennedy, a second husband, Ray Stuart Archer, Sr., and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by: a brother and sister-in-law - Elbert and Annie Dodgion of Pulaski, VA; four sisters-in-law - Mrs. Lola Dodgion of Wytheville, Mrs. Ethel Lewellya of Pulaski, Mrs. Barbara Dodgion, Mrs. Ann Dodgion, both of Florida; a brother-in-law - Robert L. Sult of Wytheville; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 26, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. at the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Kenneth Fogus officiating. Interment will follow in the Highlands Memory Gardens in Dublin. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the American Cancer Society, Memorials, Attn: Jean L. Lester, PO Box 778, Wytheville, VA 24382.
