Albert P. Bernot, 89, of Ford City, born Oct. 15, 1922, beloved husband and loving father, went to be with his Lord Thursday, July 19, 2012. He left behind his wife, Dorothy V. (Salsgiver) Bernot; sons, William (Darla) Bernot and Ronald (Lisa Lubas) Gray; daughters, Cindy Craig (Matthew Jerzyk), Linda (Dewey) Gauker and Bonnie (Steven) Morales; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Albert was proud to serve his country in the Army during World War II and was also a prisoner of war. He was a member of Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church, the Ford City VFW and the Ford City Eagles. He retired in 1978 from PPG Industries, Ford City. His hobbies were spending time with his family and enjoying life. He loved his church family and looked forward to being there. He loved music, game shows, Bible studies, crossword puzzles and holding Momma's hand. He always had a smile on his face and had a gentle caring that everyone felt. He was known as "Candy Grandpa" to all the grandchildren. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna (Masnik) Bernot; his first wife, Jean (Gould) Bernot; brothers, Joseph, Paul, John and Edward Bernot; a brother in infancy; and sisters, Stella Maus, Kathryn Dragan and Ann. He will be cherished and missed by all who were touched by his life. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, in the WELCH FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, 724-763-9041. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2012, in Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church, with additional visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, with military honors accorded by the Armstrong County Honor Guard.
