Viroqua, Wis. - Archie H. Appleman, 79, of Viroqua, died Saturday, April 27, 1985, in La Crosse Lutheran Hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1905, in Vernon County to Alfred and Mary (Perkins) Appleman.
He married Barbara Rockwell. She died in 1949. He married Beryl Briggs Welch on May 12, 1951.
He lived in the Cashton area for many years and was a cheesemaker at the Portland Cheese Factory. He and his wife moved to Viroqua in 1978.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Joanne Lewison of Viroqua; four stepdaughters, Irene Kirkeeng and Irma Martin, both of Hampshire, Ill., Mary Lou Adams of Sparta, and Marjorie Hoffland of Soldiers Grove; one stepson, Fred Adams of Janesville; one sister, Nina Getter of Viroqua; five grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Viroqua United Methodist Church. The Rev. Barry Yarbro will officiate. Burial will be in the Dell Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Larson Funeral home, Viroqua, on Monday from 3 to 5 and after 7 p.m. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m.
Friends also may call at the church Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the service.
